Make ipad2 as VOIP phone

Last weekend friend visiting from Toronto, they just got new ipad2 few days, still excited on new user experience. The one reason they bought ipad2 and applied 3G data plan is to make it work as phone.

We tried skype solution at first, got skype local number from ring2skype.com, works good on ipad2.

Then we went to freephoneline.ca to get 403 number, forward to local phone, setup VPN from hotspot-shield to get US IP, applied GV number in few minutes. We setup SIP solution and forward GV to SIP client on ipad2, but GV callback never happened on ipad2. When setup local number as callback number(need to forward 403 number to Canadian local number), we can use ipad2 to issue a GV call from local phone, it's good to make free US/CA call at home using desktop phone but not good for VOIP phone.

When friend came back to home, I found talktone from Internet and it uses inside Gtalk feature to make GV without any SIP stuff, friend tried, it works fine to call out and receive call from GV. So far there is not any GV+Gtalk app on Android yet, hope talktone publishes Android version soon.
