Helsinki impression

Weather

Friends told me the Finland is very dark this season, in fact the sky is so bright and tree is full of color, the temperate is around 4-8 C, little bit lower than Montreal, didn't see so much difference than Canada.

Language

The only one thing not got used is road sign which written in Finnish and Swedish, both strange for me, guess it's same feeling when many friends coming to Montreal from English speaking cities.

Food

Just like most of Europe style, didn't find typical Finland food yet.

Transportation

Taxi, when got off airport, found most of taxi are Benz and BMW, I took one big Benz Van, not mean I have many baggage, just it's my turn, cannot skip it to next one, in fact the price is same as regular Japanese car.

Tram, this is only type of car bypass my hotel, $2.50 per ticket, I bought $27 for one week. I like the time displace in tram station, it's so easy to know when next bus coming.

Train, it's major transportation to connect Helsinki to suburbs, I bought $52 for 10 times, found it's mistaken at first day, the train only comes every hour in the afternoon, I stayed in cold train station around one hour, so I back to train station to ask refund, they gave me full refund!

Long distance bus, they are very nice tour bus, $6 for single ticket, not bad.

Metro, it's very fast and convenient, I was not aware where is to valid my pass when I  was looking for machine inside metro, the one lady told me is outside of metro, so first time I hold my pass but didn't really valid it 🙂
