Finland

Finland is situated in the Fennoscandian region of Northern Europe.It is bordered by Sweden on the west, Norway on the north and Russia on the east, while Estonia lies to its south across the Gulf of Finland.

The native language of most of the population is Finnish, The second official language of Finland – Swedish.

The Finnish way of life

People, lifestyle and climate - all are one of a kind. It came from faraway Argentina, music that spoke to the Finnish soul. Finnish tango is always in a minor key. It tells sad stories of love lost, of a home in the forest that will never be seen again.

Finnish Food

To find out how good Finnish food is, ask an Italian. They can't find enough porcini at home, so each year planeloads of hungry Italians come to Finland to pick wild mushrooms. We don't mind, there are plenty for everyone.

Finnish design is a bit like Finns themselves, practical and functional. It has its roots in Finland's rural lifestyle, when someone in most farmhouses knew how to make a rocking chair, a willow flute or Christmas decorations out of straw. Modern Finnish designers create simple yet practical forms that serve everyday functions.

Arts and Crafts

When you eat in a Finnish restaurant, take a look around. Look at the linen napkins, the porcelain, the glassware, the coffee mug, the Finnish ryiyi rug hanging on the wall. When you're in the sauna you might be using a linen towel and dipping water from a handmade wooden bucket.
