Lost in airport in first day of 2013

I never image I will spend my 1st day of year in airport, let me recall one funny film - Lost in Airport.

I booked taxi last night for this morning 6:30am, 2:15 hours before my flight at 8:45am, 30min go to airport,it should be ok, but no taxi this morning, I started to call them after 6:35am, they said no record for my booking ! it is not good sign. I said how soon they can assign taxi for me, told me in 10min but one guys got my door until 7:20am, got airport at 7:50am, when changed board pass already 8:20. Everything is late, also messed up my next flight, it is so shock for me.

I used this taxi company for few years, always on time except this time, just cannot believe it will happen to me but it happened. I consider to call friend but today is holiday, very cold outside. Called taxi company later, explanation from them is too busy this morning since many people went new year party for whole night.

Lesson for airport taxi

1) don't afraid to bother friend take you off to airport in advance;
2) plan few near taxi contact, call few if 1st taxi not on time in 5 min;
3) plan 2:30 to 3:00 hours before international flight for holiday
4) keep taxi info for later complain

Then next I need solution, United Airline really impressed this time. I booked ticket from expedia, when I called them, they cannot do anything for reschedule flight when missing flight, said you need huge amount fee if rebook for next flight. I only gave hope to UA, the lady in UA desk is angel for me, she rebooked next day flight for me without any extra fee !

Then I called next flight , postponed to next day with little change fee.

Lesson for ticket

Booking from airline instead of agency, when something happens, you will know airline has more power to take control and help you.

I am planning to stay airport over night, I cannot trust any taxi company at least this moment.

Killing time inside airport for long hours, free wi-fi , smartphone and power charger is all your need. In fact you can do anything as you like, watch film, blogging, study ......
